Summer Poster !

 Kia Ora everyone!

Posted on the SLJ (Summer learning journey) site provided the SLJ participants with an activity.

The activity was to make a fun summer poster. I have digitally created a poster using a site called Canva.

I have used heaps of free PNG clipart images to enhance the details on the poster, and the results were perfect in my opinion!

I went for a Summer Beach Party, which is related to how far my summer holidays are going.

Expressing my enjoyment and freedom to live, laugh and love the school summer holidays!

Recycled Race Car

Good Afternoon everyone!

Posted on the SLJ (Summer learning journey) site provided the SLJ participants with an activity!

Today I had to build my very own race car using recycled materials around the house. They prepared inspiration videos to expand our creativity, and on what to use as building materials.

Below is an attachment of a short video containing my experience making my race car.

Enjoy!

Positive body Image

Positive body image is how a person perceives their body with a good mindset (thoughts and feelings) about how they personally feel about their body image, loving and accepting the normal and perfect body owned by the person.

Positive body image falls within two categories, Body Positivity and Body Neutrality. Body positivity is the promotion of accepting all body types, regardless of society's 'beauty' standards furthermore their ideas of a 'perfect' body. Body Neutrality is the bodily function, what the body can provide and do for you rather than how the body appears.

The three strategies that could help encourage a person or others to have positive body image is to love and accept the way the body is portrayed no matter the standard or judgement. Ignore the negative comments thrown and think about all the fortunate qualities and abilities each part of the body is able to execute, and confidently acknowledge it, shoving off every single negative remark and embrace the already gifted body God has blessed you with. Everybody has a story to tell followed by a desirable or an unfortunate cause, and despite that, expressing the feeling will likely boost the self of steam.

The strategy I have selected is love and acceptance. I will also explain how it can enhance a person's well-being utilising the four dimensions of well-being.

This strategy helps with our physical well-being by taking notice of the characteristics that were developed since birth, a normal human growth throughout maturing and the process puberty is an ordinary part of living as an individual. Loving and accepting yourself is part of self or body care, nourishing and maintaining the hygiene state of the entire body.

By loving and accepting the body, our social well-being is enhanced by the compassion and support received by friends, family, close peers, other relationships, the community and more! When people are aware and are concerned, reminding them they are appreciated and are accepted despite cruel judgement, they realise their worth as a person.

The person’s spiritual well-being is positively enhanced by changing the way people view themselves and give them self-worth, being able to feel aware that nobody is alone and know they can find the supportive help they're in need of anywhere.

This strategy helps with our mental and emotional well-being by planting a healthy and positive opinion inside the thoughts. This increases the happy chemicals (Four main happy chemicals are Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin & Endorphins, also known as hormones).

Seasonal Greeting Cards

A task posted on the 24/12/21 from the SLJ blog was to create a seasonal greeting card, they have also displayed a bunch of videos on a slide deck for ideas to make the cards. Before looking at making the cards I have taken a look at the History of Christmas cards

These are the cards I have made for this activity.

3 things that I have learned about the History of Christmas cards is that people have been sending Christmas greetings to one another for hundreds of years. The first recorded use for Merry Christmas was in a Christmas letter sent in 1534.

Modern Christmas cards can represent a collection of designs, from dramatic depictions of nativity to images of Santa Claus and of his reindeer's, or the scenery of winter nature. However modern technologies like sending emails, messages, or any online communication have taken a toll on Christmas cards. In spite of that many families and friends still find time to mail out cards to their loved ones.

Another thing that I have learned is that it is estimated that nearly two billion Christmas cards are sent out each year, and each household receives an average of approximately twenty cards each holiday season, which blows my mind now knowing that someone out there is sending out this many holiday cards each holiday. It's really nice and thoughtful that people out there prepare cards for many others to ensure happiness throughout the holidays.

Cicadas Do Maths

For this task I had to create a timeline of what I may be doing when I am 17, 34, 51, 68 and 85. I had to think about where I will be, how I might feel and what I might be doing.

The reason why I am doing this is because I have learned that Cicadas are able to do maths according to their life cycle and how they are able to prevent usual predator attacks by using the prime numbers. However this task is based on me for every 17 years of my life.

Below will show my timeline and the information about where I will be, what I could be doing and how I may feel.

17 - I will be a yr 12 still in college working towards NCEA lvl 2. I wish to surround myself with the people who are good and well behaved. I believe I will be studying hard to succeed and achieve my goals along the way, giving back to those who I owe, living the best and having fun. I hope to have learned how to drive and work a small job earning pocket money.

34 - I believe I will be in my first year working as a Cosmetic Surgeon usually earning between $72,000 and $124,000. Using the income I will pay off the fees. I wish to keep in contact with current friends at school and will totally keep in touch with my family. Hoping I will find a home that I can settle into before having my own little “Hope” family.

51 - Hopefully by then I will have a family of my own, supporting them along their way through life including my original. As I said before I believe I would be a Cosmetic Surgeon hopefully working in the private sector at the top will earn me up to 600,000 which will help me support my loved ones and myself with bills, mortgage, landmark, etc

68 - At this age I would want to make the most of being at a average age to be able to go around and have fun. Go overseas, travel, trips, hangouts or do things that will be memorable. Catch up with people or go out and explore more. I may have a partner to company throughout the activities and perhaps have my family/friends tag along.

85 - Around this age I would probably be looking after grandchildren. I would most likely be retired, resting and relaxing. I would feel like living the rest of my life enjoying and supporting my loved ones, wishing for the best until the end.

Bridge Builder

A task set for this week is about learning how to create a bridge using different shapes with any use of materials.

I needed to design and build my own bridge using geometry shapes such as triangles, arches and rectangles that spans about 30 cm.

Below will show a template that will display the before and after of the testing of my bridge and the explanations of some questions.

And Below this template will present a video of me testing how much load my bridge can carry.

Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful day :)
